Mr. Barnett’s practice primarily consists of litigating construction, property, and commercial disputes. He also represents a wide variety of restaurants, bars and breweries for general corporate matters, real estate transactions and liquor licensing. His litigation experience ranges from defending construction professionals in defect and injury cases, prosecuting mechanic’s liens and litigating commercial disputes on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants. He has tried numerous jury and bench trials throughout Colorado. Mr. Barnett’s mechanic’s lien practice encompasses the full range of collection including drafting and filing of the mechanic’s liens and taking the claims through trial. Mr. Barnett understands the power of the mechanic’s lien and represents owners, contractors and subcontractors to best protect their rights. Outside of his litigation practice, Mr. Barnett focuses on corporate matters in the food and beverage industry, primarily related to liquor licensing. He regularly represents restaurants, breweries and bars in public hearings related to the issuance of tavern, hotel & restaurant, beer & wine and brew pub licenses as well as petitions for major modifications to these licenses.
