Denise Clem
Ms. Clem is a member of the firm’s Real Estate and Labor & Employment Law Practice Groups.
As a member of the Real Estate Practice Group, Denise’s practice focuses on a wide variety of real estate issues including residential and commercial purchases, leasing and general business issues. She views her role in any negotiation or transaction to be that of a "deal maker". As a result, she has successfully negotiated hundreds of agreements in all aspects of real estate development, ownership, construction and financing. Since joining Messner & Reeves, Denise has facilitated a number of transactions for a variety of clients in numerous industries, including the restaurant and retail industry.
In her employment practice, Denise provides counseling and training on a wide range of employment matters including personnel policies, hiring and firing, E-Verify and Form I-9 compliance (including governmental and company initiated audits), wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and compliance with state and federal laws. She also negotiates and drafts a variety of employment related agreements, such as confidentiality, non-compete and separation agreements. She has experience responding to equal employment opportunity complaints and participating in the investigative process. She works closely with employers from a wide variety of industries to help develop common sense and reliable procedures that ensure compliance with various state and federal employment laws.
Prior to joining Messner & Reeves, Denise served as in-house counsel for Noodles & Company. She graduated from Capital University Law School in 1997 (Cum Laude). While there, she was awarded the BNA Award for Excellence in the Study of Labor and Employment Law; was a member of the Dean’s List; and was elected to membership in the Beta Court of The Order of the Curia. In her free time, she is a volunteer for Goodwill Industries of Denver Youth Services Program.
