International & China
In 2006, building on our prior experience with transactions in Europe and South America, Messner & Reeves initiated its China Practice Group. The Group's projects include both transactional matters and litigation between the United States (U.S.) and the People’s Republic of China (PRC) companies. A key asset of our group is that our attorneys have expertise and training with both U.S. and PRC laws, as well as complete bilingual capabilities.
Our transactional activities include advising PRC companies involved in the IPO and reverse merger process, negotiation and implementation of factoring agreements, and advising on all aspects of export contracts.
Messner & Reeves also has significant litigation experience that is of great use to both our U.S. and PRC clients. As part of our general litigation practice, we manage nationwide litigation for a multi-billion dollar company with over 600 stores nationwide, giving us litigation experience and contacts in most major jurisdictions in the U.S. This litigation includes all types of contract litigation, lease litigation, tort litigation, regulatory matters, judgment enforcement, and employment issues.
Our attorneys also have significant international litigation experience, including enforcement of foreign judgments, evaluation and prosecution of business loss claims in connection with international contract disputes, cross-border discovery, and ICSID arbitrations. This experience provides significant value to our PRC clients as they seek to navigate the U.S. legal system, and we currently represent Chinese exporters in actions against delinquent U.S. account debtors.
