Steven E. Fine
Steve Fine joined Messner Reeves LLP after a successful 25 year tenure at McDonald’s Corporation where he served as Senior Labor Relations Counsel, providing strategic advice and counsel to McDonald’s West Division clients. Comparable to his role at McDonald’s, Steve currently serves his clients on a broad spectrum of strategic labor and employment issues including management of employee on and off-boarding, discipline, EEO, wage and hour, immigration, leaves, child labor and litigation. He also represents clients in federal and state Occupational Safety and Health matters.
Steve’s multifaceted experience encompasses public service and private practice representing employers, employees and labor organizations; his work history includes the United Mine Workers of America, International as Special Counsel; U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission as Staff Attorney and Law Clerk; Illinois Fair Employment Practice Commission as Law Clerk to the ALJs, Investigator and Contract Compliance Officer; and Student Intern with the National Labor Relations Board, Region 13, Chicago. Steve also has extensive experience in labor arbitration and mediation as both an advocate and neutral, and was mentored by Arbitrator Samuel Edes.
As an educator, he has taught courses in labor relations, labor arbitration and collective bargaining at the former Indiana State University, Evansville, Indiana, and Roosevelt University, Chicago. Steve is a graduate of the University of Illinois, Champaign earning a B.A. with honors in Political Science, and a Master’s Degree from the School of Labor and Employment Relations, as well as a Juris Doctor of Law from Loyola University, Chicago.
